Alert Configurations - Weather
In this topic, we will review the Weather Alert configurations available in the Maintenance User Interface.

Detailed Explanation
Alert Profile Configuration
The End User configuration options for Alert Profiles are:
- Weather Profile
- NOTAM Profile
- Sigmets Profile
- Flight Progress Profile
- Flight Event Profile.
Weather Alert Profile Configuration
Weather Alert Profiles are used to configure how the system processes Weather Alerts, and when they are triggered and reported.
Click the Edit button.
REMINDER
The ALC is selected in the "Weather Profile", however it applies to all other profiles.
Click the ALC dropdown button.
Click the CZQ list item.
Click the Include Weather Profile? check box.
Note: If checked, this option enables alert for weather below minima.
Click the BLANK dropdown button.
Click the ORIG - Origin list item.
Click the Start dropdown button.
Click the ETD list item.
Click the Start input field.
Enter -90 into the Start field.
Click the End dropdown button.
Click the ETD list item.
Click the End input field.
Enter 90 into the End field.
Click the Ceiling input field.
Profile threshold options:
CEILING: Enter the ceiling threshold in feet. Alerts are triggered below this threshold value.
VISIBILITY: Enter the visibility threshold in meters. Alerts are triggered below this threshold value.
TEMPERATURE: Select the operator for the temperature threshold. Operator options are Less Than (<), Less Than or Equal (<=), Greater Than (>), Greater Than or Equal (>=), and equal to (=).
- Enter the sign of the temperature threshold. Signs are plus (+) or minus (-). Enter the temperature threshold in Celsius degrees.
- Alerts are triggered based on the combination of this threshold value, the sign and operator.
PROBABILITY: Enter a "PROB" value for inclusion of Probable Forecasts.
WIND: Enter the wind threshold in knots. Alerts are triggered above this threshold value.
ALTIMETER: Enter the altimeter threshold in HectoPascals. Alerts are triggered below this threshold value.
DEW POINT: Enter the sign of the dew point threshold. Signs are plus (+) or minus (-). Enter the dew point threshold in Celsius degrees. Alerts are triggered based on the combination of this threshold value and the sign.
Forecast exclusion options are available to instruct the system to ignore TAF type GRAD, RAPID, INTER, FM, TEND, BECMG, or TEMPO.
Enter 2 into the Ceiling field.
Click the Visibility input field.
Enter 50 into the Visibility field.
Click the SigWx input field.
The individual alerts can be configured to trigger on specific Sigmet weather elements.
Each unique or combined code can be prepended with "-" for "light", or "+" for heavy.
Codes can be combined to add qualifications to the phenomena. For example, FZRA is freezing rain.
VC can be prepended to any code, or combination of two codes to represent "in the vicinity of".
With the exception of the +, -, and VC prefixes, all codes should be two or four characters.
Enter TS FZRA into the SigWx field.
Click the Save button.
