2 Detailed Explanation
Introduction to Alerts
Use the Alerts
screen to read and acknowledge existing alerts.
The Alerts
screen is composed of several elements:
■ the Arrange By drop-down list
■ the My Alerts checkbox
■ the Results counter
■ the Result list
■ the Refresh button.
These are used to
manage your alerts.
The List screen: Unread alerts are indicated in
the Flight List by the icon. If all alerts for the flight have been
read, the
icon is displayed. Refer to the
List screen for more information.
Status
bar: The
Alerts panel in the status bar displays the status of alerts in
the system. The gray icon indicates that all alerts in the
system have been read. Unread alerts are marked with a
yellow icon
, provided that there are less than ten unread
alerts in the system. If more than 10 unread alerts accumulate
in the system, the Alerts icon will turn red
and pulsate.
Pop-up notification: Pop-up notification is
used to let you know that a new alert has been received. You can
display the new alert directly from the pop-up, or navigate to
the Alerts screen.
Click
the Alerts tab.
Click
the My Alerts check
box.
My Alerts Checkbox
The purpose of this checkbox is to let you hide alerts you are potentially not interested in. Clicking it applies the filter and updates the results counter. When checked (the default), the list will include only alerts that are either intended for the user or for a group the user is a member of. De-selecting it will display all alerts irrespective of their intended audience. The results counter indicates the number of results found as well as how many represent unread alerts, e.g., 251 results (71 unread).
The displayed list of results is for the specified filter criteria, and arranged either by alert or flight. Each item in the list is collapsible and can be expanded to show its full contents. Double-clicking an item’s header expands it (if collapsed) or collapse it (if expanded). Headers for unread items are displayed in bold.
Alerts icon appears on the bottom right-hand side of the screen.
Clicking the Refresh button refreshes the Result list in accordance with the specified filter criteria.

Pop-Up Alerts
To ensure that you
are notified of new alerts in a timely fashion, a pop-up is
displayed at the first opportunity that alerts are generated
regardless of which NFP screen you are working on. The pop-up
appears in the bottom right of the screen as shown below.
The pop-up only
shows alerts that are either public or intended for a group that
you are a member of.
The pop-up
displays a maximum of two alerts sorted by date-time in
descending order. If more alerts exist, a "...more
messages" hyperlink is displayed stating how many.
To close the
pop-up, click anywhere within its boundaries. If left alone, the
pop-up will automatically close after 15 seconds. If no alerts
have been read when the pop-up closes, those alerts will not be
included the next time the pop-up is displayed.
