Field

Description

AIRAC Cycle / Cycle

Choose the AIRAC Cycle to use. Refer to AIRAC Cycle for more information.

ICAO/IATA

Enter either the ICAO or IATA code of the destination airport. The alternative code will be displayed, along with the name of the airport.

TRANS WPT

Enter the identifier of the waypoint that marks the end of the arrival route.

IND (Index)

Allows for those cases where there may be more than one Preferred Arrival from an airport that terminates at the same Transition Waypoint. Enter a number from 0 to 99. This field is optional.

STAR

If a specific STAR is called for, enter the appropriate STAR name in this field.

WPT

If a STAR has been named in the previous field, then you must enter the STAR Transition Waypoint in this field so that the system can resolve ambiguities.

MAX

If a maximum altitude is specified for this route, enter it in this field. The Route Analysis will adhere to this limit when building an MTTA.

SRC

Enter your initials to indicate the source of this record.

RPT

Enter the preference for report departure. The option dictates whether the ATC item 15 displays: <Y>, the entire Preferred Departure/Arrival routes; <N>, The Route with only up to the transition waypoint (with direct at end); <D>, the value direct to/from the transition waypoint.

UPDT

This is a display only field to indicate when the record was last edited. The current system date will be written to the record as soon as it is saved.

VALID FROM/TO

Enter the Valid From and Valid To dates and times (optional) in the format DDMMYY, HHMM. If these fields are left blank, then the Route Analysis program will assume that the route is always valid.

T/P

This flag allows you to designate a route as Temporary or Permanent. 

• Any route flagged as Temporary will be automatically deleted when the Valid To date/time has expired. 

• Routes flagged as Permanent will remain on file until they are manually deleted, regardless of the Valid To date/time.

USE

This field allows you to control when the Route Analysis program will make use of this route. The options are: 

• Track <T>, implying that this departure is only to be considered if the city-pair involves a Track Structure; 

• MTTA <M>, implying that this departure may be considered any time the Route Analysis is building an MTTA for the city-pair; 

• or Always <A>, which implies that this route is to be considered as an option any time the Route Analysis is building a route for the city-pair.

NAT, NOR, PAC, AUS: Only available when Use is set to <T>. Use <Y> and <N> to indicate the track type. 

GC

The Great Circle distance from the transition waypoint to the destination is calculated and displayed as soon as this information is entered.

DIST

As each waypoint in the route is entered, the total distance from origin along the designated route will be displayed.

TRK/LEG

As an aid to route entry, the Great Circle Track and Distance between the last waypoint entered in the route table and the previous waypoint will be displayed in these fields.

DISABLED

Use <Y> or <N> to allow users of the FOMS 316/317 menus to know when any of their preferred departure/arrival routes are no longer valid based on the latest AIRAC data. This allows easy identification of entries requiring an update.

WPT IDENT/CC/T

If a STAR has been selected, then the first field in the route table will be filled with the ID of this waypoint. Otherwise, enter the first waypoint in the route. The program will compute the direct distance from the Origin to this waypoint. As long as there is no ambiguity, the Country Code and Type will be filled in automatically,  otherwise enter these values.

AWY

Enter the name of the desired Airway. The <?> Search function may also be used in this field if required.

Note: Since Preferred Arrivals are intended to define fixed routes published by ATC, MTTA may not be used as an entry in the Airway section of this program.

Continue to enter waypoints and airways until the previously designated end waypoint is reached. At this point, the program will recognize that the route is complete, and will shift the cursor to the Comments field.

CMTS

Enter any comments that you feel are pertinent.

AIRPORT ICAO FROM/TO

You may choose the range of Origin airports for which departure routes are to be reported.

Note: These must be ICAO codes, although you may choose to enter just the first one or two characters in order to report all routes for airports in a particular region, or particular country.

TRANSITION WAYPOINT

This field is. You may filter the report to only those using a specific transition waypoint.

DISABLED

Options are yes <Y> or no <N>
