Introduction 

Search for Flights 

In this topic, you will learn how to use the List screen to search for flights. 

We estimate that this will take 3 minutes to complete.

Detailed Explanation 

Interaction 1 Click the Origin input field.

Users can search by ALC, Flight, Origin, and Destination from the List screen. 

HINT 

You can search for an airport by the ICAO or IATA code. In this example, we will search for all flights that are leaving the airport KOMA.   

Interaction 1 Click the Search button.

The ICAO has been entered for you.

The number of results will display next to the search box. 

Flights that meet the search criteria will be highlighted yellow.

HINT 

If you are displaying a flight in the Map and Info screen, it will be highlighted green on the List.  

Interaction 1 Click the Filter button.

Users can also filter out flights by specific categories using the Filter button on the top right.

Flight Number Field: Entering a flight number in this field includes all flights that have that flight number. If less than 4 characters, the system will add zeros to the beginning of the entry.

Flight Type Drop-down: Use this drop-down list to select the type of flight to filter by: normal, test or all. 

The Origin or Destination fields allow user to search by one or both fields. Search can be by ICAO or IATA airport code. 

Aircraft Field: Entering a FIN or registration in this field includes all flights with that FIN or registration.

The ATC ALC filter is for customers that have multiple ALCs configured for ATC filing purposes.

Missing Permits Only Checkbox: Selecting this option includes flights that are missing permits. 

Unread Alerts Only: Selecting this option includes flights that unread alerts. 

Captain / FO: Use this drop-down list to select the Captain or First Officer ID to filter by if Captain has been assigned to a computed flight. 

Flight Status Filter

The flight status filter group allows you to filter the flight list based on the status of the flight. 

Computed: Set the widget whether to include computed flights in the flight list. 

Has pending input: Set the widget whether to include computed flights with pending changes in the flight list. Flights must be recomputed after changes are made. 

Diverted: Set the widget whether to include diverted flights in the flight list. 

Position: This item allows you to filter the flight list based on whether a flight is at a certain position or later. Use the drop-down list to select the position (OUT, OFF, ON, or IN). Set the widget whether to include flights of a selected position. 

Sent: Set the widget whether to include flights that have been ATC Sent, Package Sent, or ACARS Sent. 

Automation State Filter

The automation state filter group allows you to filter the flight list based on the state of automation of the flights. 

Automated: Selecting this option includes all flights that are in Automation mode. 

Exception: Selecting this option includes all flights that are in an Automation Exception.

Manual: Selecting this option includes all flights that are in Manual mode. 

Group Filter

The group filter group allows you to filter the flight list based on group assignments. 

Flight Assignment Options:  The user can filter by:

  • unassigned flights
  • flights which belong to any of the user’s groups
  • flights assigned to one specific group

If the Flight Assignment top-level checkbox is deselected then the filter will ignore flight assignments when filtering the flight list and all of the lower-level checkboxes will be greyed.

If you select the Unassigned flights option, flights that are not assigned to any group will be displayed in the flight list.

If you select My Flights, flights which are assigned to a group associated with your personal Settings will be displayed. 

You can also filter by multiple combinations of these assignment options. Selecting several specific groups will filter accordingly.

Date Filter

Use Selected Date: Selecting this checkbox enables the Date field beside the search criteria on the List Screen. 

The date is added to the search criteria when Filter is clicked. The date range is plus or minus 180 days.

Default Value - Current Date

Hours Back Field: The value entered is subtracted from the current time to provide the threshold for earliest flights. The maximum value for this field is 48 hours. Default Value - 6 hours

Hours Forward Field: The value entered is added to the current time to provide the threshold for latest flights. The maximum value for this field is 99 hours.

Default Value - 12 hours

Interaction 1 Click the Use Selected Date check box.

When you check the Use Selected Date checkbox:

  • the Hours Back and Hours Forward field are disabled
  • a date field is displayed beside the search key
  • a date widget is enabled in the Add Flight Dialog.

 

The next steps will demonstrate this functionality.

Interaction 1 Click the OK button.

Click OK button to close the Filter dialog. The flight list is updated to only show flights matching the filter conditions specified. 

 

Click Save As Default to close the Filter dialog and save the filter settings just entered. The flight list is updated to only show flights matching the filter conditions specified. Each time you go to the List screen the filter is applied. If all fields are blank, like shown above, all flights are displayed. 

 

Click Cancel to close the Filter dialog. The flight list is not updated and any changes made to the filter fields are lost. 

Interaction 1 Click the Add button.

Date Field - use the arrows to move back or forward one day at a time. 

Interaction 1 Click the Calendar Widget button.
