Flight Key Group

The Flight Key group on the Plan screen contains four fields that must be completed to create a flight. It also displays the revision of the current flight and an icon that indicates if the flight is in automation.

The fields in the Flight Key group are described in the table below.

Flight Key Group

Description

ALC (mandatory)

This dropdown list allows you to select the desired AirLine Code (ALC) for the flight that you are planning. By default, the ALC that you use to log in is displayed. This information must be entered before generating a flight plan.

Flight (mandatory)

This field allows you to enter the flight number assigned to the flight. This information must be entered before generating a flight.

When selected, the informational context arrow opens a list of two options for the type of flight:

  • Normal Flight

  • Test Flight.

Select the desired type of flight. If Test is selected, a Test icon will appear next to the flight number in the Flight Info group, and next to the flight on the List screen.

If a flight has computed an inflight revision, an inflight icon is displayed before the flight number.

Origin (mandatory)

This field allows you to enter the ICAO or IATA identifier for the origin station. The identifier can be entered either in the ICAO or IATA format, but if entered in the IATA format, it will be converted and displayed in the ICAO format. This information must be entered before generating a flight plan.

When selected, the informational context arrow opens a text box displaying the message View weather and NOTAMs. If you select this before entering an origin in the Origin field, the Information panel displays the Weather and NOTAM Query and you will be prompted to enter a station in the Information panel.

If an origin was entered before the informational context arrow was selected, the Information panel displays the Weather and NOTAM Query for the origin station.

STD (mandatory)

This field allows the user to enter the scheduled day time of departure for the flight in UTC time (DDHHMM format). This date and time can be entered manually.

In the case that the current flight number has been previously used, the informational context arrow opens a list of STDs associated with that flight number. Selecting an STD from the list will load the flight that corresponds with that STD.

Alter Flight Key

You can change parts of the Flight Key by selecting the green arrow beside Loaded Revision on the Plan screen. Afterward, select the Alter Flight Key… option.

Note: If you were to delay a flight for more than 36 - 48 hours, it may be best to alter the flight key rather than change the ETD in the Plan screen.
