MEL / CDL Additional Information

  1. Hdl: We understand that this field indicates that the penalty is managed by N-FP. Should all types of effects be shown as handled in this case?

A: The system automatically handles most effects by applying the restrictions. However, for a few exceptions (e.g. MEA and CAT), the user needs to apply the restrictions manually.

  1. Ntf: We have observed that some effects type do not have the option to enable Notify. Could you help us understand the reasoning behind this? Also, could you clarify which effect types generate a warning when the penalty is applied?

A:  Notify lets a user know if a restriction is applied successfully.

Notify was implemented only for the following effects based on customer feedback received at the time:

  • Aircraft Biases (FCP, CLP, CRP, DSP, HSP)

  • Max Flight Level (MFL)

  • ETOPS Reduction (ETR)

  • Max Mach (MCH)

  • MTOW Reduction (TOW)

  • MLW Reduction (MLW)

  • No RVSM (RVS)

  1. DMI (deferred maintenance item)- Could you provide more details about DMI and explain how it works?

A:  DMI stands for "Deferred Maintenance Item" and represents the internal system's record of the deferral instance. It serves as a unique identifier for that specific MEL (Minimum Equipment List) application. The DMI is a mandatory field when applying the same MEL or CDL (Configuration Deviation List) item twice. For example, if you initially defer missing static wicks and later find more missing wicks before the repair is completed, you will need to use a DMI to apply the MEL again for this new occurrence.

  1. How does NFP determine Day and night time for below effect type:

A:  Times for day and night are based on the FOMS 446 menu.
