In this topic, we will review the methods employed to manage groups via automation, or manual assignment via settings or the List screen. We will also discuss utilizing alerts and filters to enhance Desk Assignments functionality.

Managing groups
There can be a large number of flights in the List screen; groups give users the ability to manage the flights they see on the List screen. Flight assignments allow administrators to assign flights to a user and it allows users to only see flights that are relevant to them.
This topic will show you how to:
- To assign yourself to a group.
- Filter the flight list to see flights that are assigned to you and flights that are not.
- Assign a flight to a group when adding a flight.
- Assign a flight automatically to a group using Input Defaults.
- Create a new flight group.
- Use the Assign button to assign a group to a flight.
Click the Settings menu item.
This icon indicates that this flight has been assigned to a group but not a group you are a member of. No icon indicates that the flight has not been assigned to any group.
Click the DISP-A check box.
These next steps will show you how to assign yourself to a be a member of a group.
Click the Apply button.
Click the List menu item.
Click the Filter button.
Now, you are a member of a group. The next steps will show you how to filter the flight list to view flights assigned to you. You can also filter the list to see flights assigned to others.
Click the Flight Assignment check box.
Click the OK button.
Click the Filter button.
This icon indicates that the flight has been assigned to your group.
Click the DISP-C check box.
Click the OK button.
Click the Add Flight button.
You can assign a flight when you add it. Select the checkbox next to the group.
The flight list has been filtered to show flights assigned to you, unassigned flights and flights assigned to group DISP-C. You can hover your mouse over the icon next to a flight to view its assignment.
Click the Maintenance menu item.
The following steps will show you how to assign a flight automatically using the Input Defaults screen.
Click the Input Defaults hyperlink.
Click the New button.
This is a simple example to show you how to assign flights. See the Input Defaults topic for more information on how to use Input Defaults.
Click the Type dropdown button.
Click the Defaults list item.
Click the Weight Unit dropdown button.
Click the KGS list item.
Click the Flt Num input field.
Enter 0800 into the Flt Num field.
Click the Group Label dropdown button.
Click the DISP-A list item.
Click the Save button.
Any flight with a flight number of 0800 will automatically be assigned to group DISP-A.
Click the Add Flight button.
Flight 0800 added and automatically assigned to DISP-A group.
Click the Maintenance menu item.
The following steps will show you how to create a new group.
Click the Flight Groups hyperlink.
Click the New button.
Click the Group input field.
Enter DISP-D into the Group field.
Click the Save button.
Click the Settings menu item.
Click the Refresh button.
New group added.
Click the Flight 300 check box.
These next steps will show you how to assign a flight to a group that is already in the flight list.
Click the Assign button.
Click the Assign to: check box.
You can select multiple groups.
Click the Assign to: dropdown button.
Click the DISP-A list item.
Click the OK button.
