FOMS Menu 460 (Specific Weather/NOTAMs Program)

Note: The following descriptions represent the typical access and privileges afforded to users designated as Dispatch Managers/Supervisors. Users with dispatcher privileges will have limited access to a subset of the screens presented.

The purpose of this program is to provide the user with a quick and easy way of obtaining the details of weather, Tracks, and flight plan information for a given flight from a single source. This will allow you to view information on the screen, or to print the information for a crew’s flight package.

The available modes are:

  • Screen
  • Hardcopy
  • Transmit
  • Quit

Screen Mode

Stations: Enter the ICAO, IATA, or FAA identifiers for the stations for which you want weather or NOTAMs reported.

Type of Report: Enter Actuals <SA>, NOTAMs <NO> and Forecasts <FT>. You need only enter the first initial, and you may do it in any order. For example, entering <FSNC> will suffice; the program will figure out what it is you want. You may also enter <CIRCLE> in this field, in which case the latest Actual and Forecast for each alternate for each airport you have entered will be displayed. The shortcut for requesting <CIRCLE> is to enter <C>.

FIR NOTAMs: Enter the ICAO code for the FIRs for which you wish to have NOTAMs reported.

OTHER Wx: First enter the type of weather you wish to have reported (see list below), and then the identifier for the station or area. The available types are:

  • FA
  • SD
  • UA
  • WS
  • WA
  • WW

Flight Plan: Enter the Flight Number, Day, and Origin for the flight whose plan you wish to see. If you do not want to view a flight plan, simply press <Enter>. Access to flight plans is limited to those flights that have a final or revised final flight plan completed and the flight is still active in flight status. If the flight has an in time stored against it in flight status then the flight plan will not be retrievable via this option. If a flight has been cancelled in flight status then the user will receive a message indicating the flight has been cancelled at the bottom of the screen and the flight plan data will not be retrieved.

NAT Tracks (E/W): Enter either <E> or <W> to view the current Eastbound or Westbound tracks respectively.

You may enter as few or as many items as you wish in this report selector, e.g. if you wanted only a flight plan, you can escape using <Ctrl>-E as soon as you have entered the flight’s key. A confirmation prompt will appear, allowing you to proceed, make changes, or quit. Entering <Y> will generate a report to the screen, or to the printer, depending on the mode you have selected.

Hardcopy Mode

This mode functions like the Screen mode, except that the report is directed to the system printer.

Transmit Mode

If you select the Transmit mode, then the report that you choose will be assembled and written into the Network Message program screen, where you can enter addresses, transmit time, and edit the report as you see fit. For further details on procedures, refer to the Network Message program (FOMS Menu 520).
