Custom Maps 

This topic will recall the Map function for saved images, and detail how to attach these images to the Flight Package.

Map Images

In this module, we will discuss the Map Image functionality and how it can be employed to provide Map Images with the Flight Package.

You can save a copy of the map image that is displayed once the flight key information is completed for a flight. The image will contain the data visible in the map view as selected by you. You can save the map image whether the map is in the normal or expanded mode.

There are 3 types of saved Map Images:

• Flight - only associated with the selected flight and are saved in the Custom Map images section.
• CityPair - only associated with flights that contain the city-pair and are saved in the CityPair Map section.
• Standard - associated with all flights and are saved in the Standard Map section. The map is saved with the current map layers and auto-zooms to fit the route.

Let's take a look at Map Image Functionality.

Click the Save button.

Click the Save button.

The three save options dictate when the map image will be populated as a Flight Package Option.

This image of the route of flight with a turbulence overlay is being saved for this flight only.

Click the Arrow next to the Save button.

Click the Weather button.

Click the Storm check box.

Click the Turbulence check box.

Click the Map image.

Click the Save button.

Click the CityPair radio button.

Click the Save button.

This image will be available for all flights between SEA and MIA.

Click the Reports menu item.

Click the Expand City-Pair Map Images tree item.

Click the Expand Standard Map Images tree item.

Click the Expand Custom Map Images tree item.

Click the TURB_Route hyperlink.

Note the STORM_Route image saved as a City-Pair image, indicating it will be available for all SEA-MIA flights.

The TURB_Route image is saved as a Custom Map image, indicating it will be available for this flight only.

Click the STORM_Route hyperlink.

Click the List menu item.

Click the KMIA list item.

We will select another SEA-MIA flight to demonstrate the City-Pair Map Image function.

Click the Plan menu item.

Click the Compute button.

Click the Reports menu item.

Click the Expand City-Pair Map Images tree item.

Click the Expand Standard Map Images tree item.

Click the List menu item.

Note that the City-Pair Map images are still available for this new flight.

The Standard Map images have been saved previously in this environment, and will display on all flights.

Click the CYVR list item.

We will now select a different City-Pair to show that only the "Standard" map images populate.

Click the Plan menu item.

Click the Compute button.

Click the Reports menu item.

Click the Expand Standard Map Images tree item.

Click the route_wind hyperlink.

Note the same 3 Standard Map Images have been available for all flights.

N-FP will automatically apply the appropriate filters and layers to any flight in the system.

When creating the Flight Package Layout, it is possible to configure the Map Images to populate automatically.
