Airport Suitability Fields

New / Add

This mode should be used to add a record for a given airport for which there are presently no suitability restrictions established.

Field

Description

Airport

Enter the ICAO code of the airport. The IATA code and name will be added automatically.

ALC

If applicable, enter the ALC for which the airport suitability rules should be applied.

Default

Enter the default suitability for the airport.

Entering a <Y> will have the effect of allowing all aircraft to use the airport, whereas entering an <N> will cause the system to believe that the airport is not suitable for any aircraft (i.e., the user must then specify suitability for each aircraft in the database).

Aircraft

The user can specify which aircraft will be deemed suitable for the airport.  The choices are to be FIN specific by entering a valid fin in the FIN field, specify an aircraft type in the TYPE field (e.g., B737), and in those cases where only a specific series of a type is authorized then the series would be listed in the Series Field.

Suitability

In this section, the user can now specify how the airport may be used as it relates to the information entered in the aircraft section. The first selection allows the user to specify if the airport can be used as an origin or destination by the aircraft stored in the AIRCRAFT section of the record.  Next, the user can specify if the airport can be used as an alternate airport, and finally the user can specify if the airport can be used as an emergency airport.  The valid entries in each of these fields are Y or N.

Point of Safe Return Airports (PSR): Airports set as the PSR  must have origin set to <Y>.

The types of airports are as follows:

  • Origin

  • Destination

  • Emergency

  • Reclear destination (RDes) - (Rclr) on Web FOMS menu

Note: Stations are automatically added to the flight plan. DefaultEnrWx, on FOMS 170, must also be set to include enroute alternate weather stations. - (Wx) on Web FOMS menu

Last Change Date:  The change date will be  automatically updated, and the update source can be entered. If omitted, it will default to FMS.

Note: The following descriptions represent the typical access and privileges afforded to users designated as Dispatch Managers/Supervisors. Users with dispatcher privileges will have limited access to a subset of the screens presented.
