To view a template, Default or Selectable Template is a mandatory field, however, if you choose Default <D>, you do not have to name it.
Default templates are flexible as you can enter multiple record types or just use one. Compute inputs are loaded automatically when a flight is added that matches a record type or types. The more specific you are with the record type determines what compute inputs are loaded, however, inputs can be merged -see note below- from multiple templates. Refer to the examples below.
Note: When a flight is added it is possible that there will be multiple matches from default templates. Refer to: Flight Mode.
Templates with Multiple ALCs
You can use templates if you have multiple ALCs.
In this example Atc Alc is set to CZA. Any flight added with the ALC set to CZA will have the Atc Flight Number automatically set to 1234 and TEST REMARK in the ATC Remarks section on the Plan screen.

FOMS 171
In this example the FltNum record is set to P1007.
If you enter a flight with a FLTNum of P1007, any values entered in the Default section of the FOMS 171 menu or in the Aircraft, Weights or Fuel tabs of the WebFOMS Input Defaults screen are automatically loaded to the corresponding compute fields on the Plan screen.

Records (fields in the General tab or top of FOMS 171)
Default or Selectable Template = D
Orig = CYYZ
Dest = KJFK
Default Values (fields in the Aircraft, Weights or Fuel tab or Default section of FOMS 171)
Max FL = 300
Defaults (fields in the Aircraft, Weights or Fuel tab or Default section of FOMS 171)
Tanker Fuel: 300
Addn Fuel: 300
A flight added with an origin of CYYZ and a destination of KJFK will have a max flight level of 300 added in the compute field. It will also have corresponding default values added in the compute fields and stored in the template. If the compute fields contain data for which another template is applicable e.g. aircraft type, then the two templates are merged together and the user can view which template the values came from.
Refer to: Flight Mode.
