FOMS Menu 171 (Input Defaults Config)

Graphical user interface
Description automatically generated

A - Record Types

B - Default Fields

The FOMS 171 menu allows you to store default data and have it automatically loaded to compute fields on the Plan or Route screen.

There are two ways to load data into the Plan screen (see below), either through Default templates or Selectable Templates

Selectable templates are available through the interface on the Template button.

Interface templates are created in FOMS 171.

You can create many different templates, either Default or Selectable, based on record types (A)

The values in the Default Fields (B) are automatically loaded into the corresponding compute fields in the Plan or Route screen when a flight is added that matches the Record Types (A).

Note: See Default Templates and Selectable Templates for more information.

There are two areas to the FOMS 171 menu (A) Records and (B) Defaults.

The modes available to the user are:

  • Add

  • Edit

  • Delete

  • Video

  • Screen

  • Hardcopy

  • Flight

  • Quit

  • Edit Mode

To retrieve a record for editing, enter the Template type (mandatory) and any other record type (optional). Exact matches must be made to retrieve records.

Once the record has been retrieved, you can use the up or down arrow keys to navigate to the field requiring changes. To change any information, use <Ctrl>-X or backspace, and then enter the new information. Once you have made all of the changes that you want, enter <Ctrl>-E to escape to the confirmation prompt on the Command Line.

Note: You cannot edit Record Types (A) once a Template is created, either Default or Selectable. You can only edit the Default Fields (B). See Edit Templates for details.

Delete Mode

Enter the origin, destination, FIN/registration, aircraft type and series, engine type, and weight unit. The record will be retrieved from the data file and displayed, along with a Really DELETE? (Y/N) prompt.

Entering <Y> will delete the record from the file.

Entering <N> will cancel the deletion, clear the screen, and reposition the cursor to the ALC field for another entry.

Video Mode

Video mode will enable you to view a single city-pair aircraft bias record, one at a time, and to search the data file by using the up and down arrow keys. If the information you entered is not associated with a current record, a Record Not Found remark, Press <ENTER> for NEXT AVAILABLE message will appear. You may return to a blank screen with the cursor positioned in the Orig field by pressing <Enter>. To exit to a Command Line prompt, enter <Q>.

Screen Mode

The input screen for Screen mode allows you to produce a city-pair aircraft biases report for a range of city-pairs sorted alphabetically by city pair.
