1       Introduction

FOMS 200 Menus

This topic covers the FOMS 200 menus.

We estimate that this will take 3 minutes to complete.

2       Detailed Explanation

FOMS Menu 200 (Aircraft Maintenance Menu)

FOMS Menu 200 is the Aircraft Maintenance Menu. It is the gateway to the aircraft-related databases and program.

FOMS Menu 215 - Aircraft Types

This program acts as a control file for the types of aircraft that are on your system, and contains information that is applicable to each particular type/series/engine combination such as ATC (ICAO) Identifier, passenger capacity, etc. No performance data can be loaded for a given type/series/engine combination unless and until that combination has been added to this program's data file.

FOMS Menu 220 - Aircraft Characteristics Program

This data file is used to store information on each aircraft in the your fleet. An aircraft record must be entered in the file before a flight can be run using that aircraft. Given no more than the airline’s identification number (or letters) for a particular aircraft (sometimes referred to as FIN, tail, wheel, hull or airframe number), other programs in the system can access this data file and obtain information such as aircraft type, operating weights, SELCAL code, and fuel consumption deviations.

This functionality is also available via webFOMS.

FOMS Menu 230 - Performance Profile Key Program

This program enables you to associate specific climb, cruise, descent, and hold performance profiles with keys which will be used in the CRZ field of the Flight Plan screen. This, for example, will permit you to designate which climb and descent profiles are to be used with Long Range Cruise, which ones are to be used with High Speed Cruise, or which are to be used with an engine-inoperative cruise.

FOMS Menu 231 - ETP Scenarios Program

Use this program to define exactly how the Equal Time Point fuel requirements are calculated. When the program is opened, the screen displays an empty record, and a command line listing the various modes that may be selected.

This functionality is also available via webFOMS.

FOMS Menu 232 - ETP Policies Program

Use this program to group one to six different ETP calculation scenarios together as a single policy. This can be assigned to an individual aircraft. The ETP calculation routine within the flight plan program is capable of calculating the fuel requirements according to six different scenarios for each pair of ETP alternates. This program allows control over the scenarios that are used for any given aircraft.

FOMS Menu 250 - Climb Fuel Program

Use this program to view climb performance data. The values are Time (to the nearest tenth of a minute if possible), Burn (total fuel consumed in the climb starting from brake release at the end of the runway, to the nearest pound or kilogram), and the average True Air Speed to Top of Climb. This latter value is no longer used by the climb routine of the flight plan, but the values are maintained in the file so that they are available for verification purposes if required.

FOMS Menu 251 - Descent Fuel Program

Use this program to view descent performance data. The values displayed are Time, in minutes, Burn in pounds (or kilograms), and still-air Distance in nautical miles. These values represent descent data for a typical descent weight under Standard ISA conditions. Adjustments for the effects of wind and temperature are made by the Flight Plan program.

Graph mode allows you to enter criteria and have the information displayed in a graph. The graph opens in a separate browser window.

FOMS Menu 252 - Cruise Fuel Program

Use this program to view cruise performance data. The values displayed are Mach Number and the corresponding fuel burn expressed in Pounds per Nautical Mile for each increment of weight at each flight level within the aircraft’s performance envelope.

Graph mode allows you to enter criteria and have the information displayed in a graph. The graph opens in a separate browser window.

For prop-driven aircraft, the speed values are expressed as True Air Speed in knots, and tables are provided for each 5 increment of ISA deviation.)

FOMS Menu 253 - Driftdown Fuel Program

Use this program to view driftdown performance data.

The values displayed are:

time to reach stable altitude in minutes

fuel burn from cruising level to level-off in pounds or kilograms

        still-air distance to level-off

final level-off altitude (flight level) for each increment of initial cruising weight, flight level, and Temperature Deviation.

Graph mode allows you to enter criteria and have the information displayed in a graph. The graph opens in a separate browser window.

FOMS Menu 254 - Hold Fuel Program

Use this program to view hold performance data. The values displayed are hourly burn rate for each increment of weight and flight level..

Graph mode allows you to enter criteria and have the information displayed in a graph. The graph opens in a separate browser window.
