Flight Hazard Forecasting Map Functions

This module will describe the Flight Hazard Forecast functions available in the N-Flight Planning Map.

Interaction 1 Click the Map arrow expansion button.

Interaction 1 Click the Turbulence checkbox.

Multiple Hazard layers can be viewed at one time, but for the sake of this training we will view them separately.

Interaction 1 Right-click the on the Hazard image.

The darker areas on the map indicate higher levels of turbulence.

The drop-down lists for Flight Level and Forecast Offset allow users to view the forecast Hazards at specific flight levels, and for specific valid tiems.

Right clicking on a Hazard area will provide details for that forecast.

The drop-down next to Icing checkbox allows for selection of specific icing severity.

Icing Hazards are only displayed for flight level 280 or below.

Use the Flight Level drop-down to select the desired view.

Right-click on the icing display to view information on the icing levels.

Icing is measured in PPI (percent power increase):

Light (0.0 - 0.1)

Medium (0.11 - 0.4)

Heavy (0.4 and above).
